Working Backstage at the Yorkshire Dales Food and Drink Festival: Behind the Scenes with Celebrity Chefs and Live Cookery Demonstrations
Celebrating Food, Drink and the Yorkshire Dales
Working backstage at the Yorkshire Dales Food and Drink Festival is always one of the highlights of my year. Held at the beautiful Funkirk Farm, this much-loved event attracts thousands of visitors from across the country.
Each year, food lovers come together to celebrate great food, fine drink and family entertainment. The festival creates a wonderful atmosphere where producers, chefs and visitors can share their passion for all things culinary.
The festival celebrates the very best of the region’s “field to fork” food culture. Showcasing local producers, artisan makers and some of the country’s most talented chefs. Set against the stunning Yorkshire Dales landscape, it is the perfect place to celebrate quality food and drinks.
A Festival That Continues to Grow
Since launching in 2016 as a family-focused celebration of food and drink, the festival has grown year after year. It is now one of the UK’s largest and most popular food events.
As a result, visitors travel from far and wide to enjoy live cookery demonstrations, discover new producers and sample delicious food They also have the chance to hear the stories behind some of the finest food the region has to offer.
Life Behind the Scenes
While visitors enjoy the excitement on stage, behind the scenes there is always plenty happening. My role is to support some of the country’s best-known chefs and help prepare their recipes before they step into the demonstration theatre.
From weighing ingredients and organising equipment to completing final checks, every detail matters. Together, these preparations help each demonstration run smoothly.
Although the backstage environment is busy and fast-paced, it is also incredibly rewarding. Every event brings new challenges and the excitement of seeing everything come together.
Working Alongside Celebrity Chefs
Working backstage provides a unique insight into the world of live cookery. I have the opportunity to see how chefs prepare, present and share their recipes with enthusiastic audiences.
Meanwhile, chefs, presenters and production teams work together to create memorable experiences for festival visitors. It is a real team effort, both on and off the stage.
Over the years, I have had the pleasure of supporting an incredible line-up of celebrity chefs, including Mary Berry, the Hairy Bikers, James Martin and Gino D’Acampo.
Watching these talented chefs inspire audiences with their knowledge, creativity and passion is always a privilege.
Creating Lasting Memories
Ultimately, being part of the team behind these demonstrations allows me to combine my love of food with my enjoyment of live events. Every festival brings new recipes, new experiences and new memories.
Above all, the Yorkshire Dales Food and Drink Festival is a celebration of great food, talented chefs and the teamwork that brings every demonstration to life.
